Yes, strange, I'll try to reach some ops at sourceforge to see what's
going on. I don't see notifications for the two commits I did at github

I think you need to do a bit more than that, I recall having to prove I
was associated with xmlunit. May be wrong. In either case, I now have
permissions to deploy to the org.xmlunit groupId.

Honestly I have a love/hate relationship with the release plugin, more
hate than love. It's not as if I wouldn't know how to use Maven, I've
been using it for years now. Personally I still prefer not using it at
all, but as I said in my first response (that I forwarded to you), I'm
willing to adapt XMLUnit if there is a benefit beyond changing the build
system.
