when trying out xmms2 the first time, i've had quite a bad impression,
because it couldn't play the very first mp3 i tried. Digging a bit, it
turns out, that it was encoded (long ago) with broken CRC checksums,
resulting in errors from libmad. Original xmms played these files well
without any errors.
I'd propose to configure libmad to ignore these CRC errors in the
mad-plugin. See the attachment for a possible patch altering mad.c in
the mad-plugin.
