My suggestion: We introduce a 24 bit format, I move the conversion into the converter code, adapt the 24 bit wav and FLAC input to make use of this feature. What do you think?
Sounds ideal to me, but best to get the input of the core developers before you start, just to make sure this is something they would welcome!
