Maybe. I'd hate to force users to do that just to get new hardware
support or a simple driver bug fix.
The server will often require you to update your proto modules too (possibly
multiple ones of them, since we've still never unmodularized those, despite
taking that discussion all the way to prototype before abandoning multiple
times), where most driver updates will not.
