And a day later, I ran 'lxterminal', which goes and gets a 32-bit ARGB visual for no good reason... I think that's probably still OK -- if you offer 2 core-identical 24-bit RGB visuals, and the first one is 'normal', then a linear search will reliably avoid the deep one. -- -keith
