Thank you for the clarification on set_mode_major. The driver api breakage isn't "necessary", but is an attempt to clean up the usage. It seemed to me that the only reason the rotation parameter was needed was so that the set_mode_major function could explicitly process the rotation transforms, which is something the xf86CrtcSetModeTransform() function does already (and was being skipped without this patch).
