With git HEAD of xserver, xf86-video-intel, mesa, libdrm, and the input drivers the X server does not seem to come back once the screen saver in KDE has kicked in and DPMS has turned off the display. This happens on both a laptop with the G45 and a desktop with the 965G graphic chips. The desktop environment is KDE-4.2.4. Both machines run the 2.6.30 kernel, but I had these errors under 2.6.29.4 as well recently, where the server would suddenly freeze with just the mouse pointer being reactive when using a 3D application (including kwin compositing manager). It is possible to log into the machine via ssh, but the server cannot be killed succesfully. Only a reboot brings the display back.
The end of the Xorg log shows this error: [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop. Has somebody else observed this bug? Which component is most likely to cause this? The intel driver, mesa or the server? Many thanks for any pointers. Magnus
