The Xorg.log output tells me: > (II) MGA(0): Not using mode "1920x1080" (no mode of this name) > but it appears to be using: > (**) MGA(0): Default mode "1600x1200": 162.0 MHz, 75.0 kHz, 60.0 Hz (II) > MGA(0): Modeline "1600x1200"x60.0 162.00 1600 1664 1856 2160 1200 1201 1204 > 1250 +hsync +vsync (75.0 kHz) > I've googled for help for hours, but nothing I've found has gotten me > that max resolution. IIRC, old Matrox cards with their original BIOS need a BIOS upgrade in order to support any widescreen modes, but it may be that even that doesn't help. I just booted a G400 (with newest BIOS I ever could find) that has no widescreen display to connect to. I see no wide modes in Xorg.0.log, but its display has no DDC or EDID to tell the driver what it wants either. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
