As an explanation, I hope, ultimately, to get a nice up to date Radeon driver on
my Debian wheezy laptop[1] as per :

    http://www.x.org/wiki/radeonBuildHowTo

So really I have a plan .. to get to a better quality build with great graphics
which can actually play high quality framerate video etc because at the
moment if I insert a Star Wars DVD and fire up VLC then I have to hit
the power button to get the machine back. Hitting CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE
gets totally ignored and the machine locks up.

So my hope is that my Debian wheezy laptop runs much better as well
as my day to RHEL6 workstation. All from /opt/xorg of course and
without killing the vendor packages.

So .. at least .. that is the plan and I have months to get there.

I do apologize for wandering in like an id10t and just asking questions. I
know that I will mess up. Over and over. Hopefully at the end I can
write a really detailed blog that allows others to do the same with
nearly perfectly easy to follow "do this and then this" type instructions.

Dennis
