openSUSE Tumbleweed 20150815 0a:03.0 VGA compatible controller: XGI Technology Inc. (eXtreme Graphics Innovation) Z7/Z9 (XG20 core) kernel 4.1.4 xf86 sis driver 0.10.7-10.2 16:10 LCD using VGA connector and correct aspect 1440x900 mode "forced" via xorg.conf, though EDID reports stretched ugly aspect 1280x1024 is native cmdline includes vga=791 in order to produce comfortable text size on vttys
log: http://fm.no-ip.com/Tmp/Linux/Xorg/xorg.0.log-g5eas-os133-blanksOnStartxExit I can restart startx using bash command history, but without seeing, I can't do anything else until getting X restarted. Switching to other vttys doesn't change anything. With 4.0.3 and 3.19.4 kernels same bad behavior. Switching output from LCD to '21"' (19.8" physical) CRT produces black screen on exit whether xorg.conf specifies "native" 1280x1024 or (ideal) 1600x1200 mode. openSUSE 13.2 & kernel 3.16.7 behaves as expected. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
