Hi Leo, Denis,

Success!! Ok, I took a long route.. and spent almost 3 days trying to
figure it out...

At the end I decided that the tablet was way too slow for development,
and trying things and compiling just took too much time...

so I investigated cross-compilation. After 1.5 days I finally got a
setup where I can compile binaries for Windows from my Linux computer.

If anybody is every interested to do this the answer is relatively easy
(once you know what you have to do :)

- install mingw packages

- install windres
  make a symlink as
  sudo ln -s /usr/bin/i586-mingw32msvc-windres windres

- install pthreads from
  http://clam-project.org/wiki/Devel/Windows_MinGW_cross_compile#pthreads

- install the gtk2 win bundle from gtk+

- I had to fix pkg-config files (.rc files, to remove the set the prefix
to empty prefix=). make sure you can compile and the hello world from
  gtk+2 using its Makefile

- compile and install libjpg, libtiff, libpoppler

- install binaries from gnome the libgnomecanvas and libart

- fixed the script glib-mkmenus which had
  /bin/perl instead /usr/bin/perl

mmm, i didn't install libgnomeprint... I might have to do that...

but at least I can now compile and run it in my tablet ;)

One thing I am realizing is that this is a good time to synchronize my
changes to upstream. My branch does not run well under windows. It is
totally laggy.

thanks for all your help,
