Hi all Am new to the list, so please forgive me if I rant.
To put you in the picture, I have a new box ... And a new problem. My old box ran an AMD Duron with an ATI Radeon 32MB DDR on a VIA chipset based board. All supported revisions of XFree86 4.x worked including hardware GL. My new box runs an AMD Athlon XP with an ATI Radeon All-In-Wonder 32MB DDR on an AMD-761/VIA chipset based board. XFree86 4.0.3 & 4.1.0 do not work for me. I get a mouse cursor the size of a postage stamp, corrupt backgrounds, and ultimately my box locks up. I tried mandrake 8.1 instead of SuSE 7.1 (my stalwart distribution) and *their* XFree86 4.1.0 works (even with GL) so I am assuming they are using a later snapshot of code. I would gladly try the CVS release of the XFree86 tree but I can never get logged in via anoncvs. Does anyone know where I can get updated snapshots of code, either build-ready or not ? Or, if anyone has a similar problem to me and fixed it (without breaking their box) can they please make a posting here or email me :) Thanks for listening !!
