Hi there! I'm sending you both this message with hopes that someone could help, or point me in the correct direction.
I'm running mandrake 8.2, kernel 2.4.18, on a Dell 8100. The problem I'm having is 'totally black' screens when X starts. I've reviewed all of the logs, and I don't see anything that seems to be an error... and I've hunted the net for info. I found one thread here: http://www.xfree86.org/pipermail/xpert/2001-December/014212.html ... to talk about this chip under Xfree86... but that's about it. The card is a ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M6 LW, with 64 megs of ram. I've attached dmesg output, XFconfig, xfree.log, and lspci -vv output. I'm not sure what mailinglist I should post this to; is the Xpert list the place? TIA, Eric Johanson PS. If for whatever reason the archives or the mailserv doesn't keep the attachments, I've mirrored them here: http://www.vilos.com/radeon_lw
