Hi, I just downloaded xfree86 4.2 for freebsd 4.x (running fbsd 4.4-release). The auto-configed configuration produces an unreadable screen (just rectangles of various colors, some flashing).
The log file has multiple "hsync out of range" lines and it drops down to 640x480. The display is probed at (WW) NV(0): Monitor0: Using default hsync range of 28.00-33.00kHz (WW) NV(0): Monitor0: using default vrefresh range of 43.00-72.00Hz If you want to see the gory details, the config and log are at: http://www.math.missouri.edu/~rich/XF86Config http://www.math.missouri.edu/~rich/XFree86.0.log But if someone has a working config for an inspiron 8100 I'd much appreciate it if you'd send it to me!
