Sorry, I forgot that it was a built in extension, not a module, so
           SubSection "xxxxxx"
              Option  "omit yyyyy"
           EndSubSection
doesn't work :-(

If Render is causing problems... why not just _disable_ the 
Render extension entirely in your config file.  Seems the simple 
logical workaround to me.
