Hi all

My office has just bought a cartload of Dell GX260 machines which has
integrated Intel 82845 onboard graphics card). As per Intel's site, the
driver will be available in the next XF release, but vesa driver is
recommended in the meantime. However, it (X with the VESA driver) is
giving me a few problems (I'm using Redhat 7.3 with the Ximian GNOME):

1) When I boot, X starts up fine, but when I logout, the screen goes
blank and GDM does not appear. killall X and ipcrm of all shm segments
make no difference - I simply cannot restart X without rebotting the
machine :-(

2) I can't get 16-bit color - have to be content with 8 bit @ 1024 :-(

3) I get weird black lines (both horizontal and vertical) at times, esp,
where the cursor is supposed to be.

Anyone with experience configuring 82845 properly ? I can send more
details (XFree86-4 config file, etc.) if required.

Also, does the CVS version contain the Intel drivers ?

Thanks in advance.

Rgds,
Biswa.
