It is my hope and understanding that nVidia download will provide all the libraries I need for programming and implementing hardware supported OpenGL. Does this mean I have to uninstall Mesa? Are there are other libraries I still need. It is impossible to tell what is going on, the documentation is poor and there is no consistant point of orientation about OpenGL among the various sites on the subject. I am completely amazed that anything like Quake is being run on linux, you practically have to have a degree in Computer Engineering just the get the thing running right. I've tried installing Quake2, and I get errors with the compile:
In file from .... ref_gl/qgl.h:484: parse-344o4 before '0x84C0' Somebody who just wants to run Quake is supposed to understand that? I'll settle for getting these drivers going. Anybody else have any ideas why this module is not initializing or how to find out more what the problem is? ----Original Message Follows---- From: Chris Faherty <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Xpert](EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVdriver kernel module! Just a note. I had the hardest time getting GL to work with the NVIDIA_GLX until I realized that it replaces the /usr/lib/libGL.so that comes in xlibmesa3. Being lazy, I just install NVIDIA_GLX last. What I should really do is figure out a way to get rid of xlibmesa3 by having NVIDIA_GLX satisfy the libgl1 requirement of a lot of my packages. -- /* Chris Faherty <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> */ _______________________________________________ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert <html><P>Paul Pikowsky<BR>1850 Hanover Dr. #43, Davis, CA, 95616, USA <BR>530-753-6513 <BR>[EMAIL PROTECTED] </P> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV></html> _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com _______________________________________________ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
