I am using a custom PS/2 keyboard, which plugs into a magcard reader, then into the PC. Due to some hardware issue, the keyboard hangs about one out of ten times it's sent a kbd_rate command. Since X resets the keyboard when it starts, that means the keyboard occasionally locks up when X starts.
However, my keyboard also sometimes locks up during an X session. My question is, does X reset the keyboard or change the repeat rate at other times, such as when a new window is created? The keyboard code is in hw/xfree86/os-support/linux/lnx_io.c but I'm not sure where else it gets called.
