Hi! I just switched to XFree86 Version 4.1.0.1 (because I needed GLX support) and now I can't center the screen. I copied my X3 modelines to the monitor section of /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 but without effect. Also xvidtune only jerks the screen a little but does not change its position or size.
The modelines are accepted according to the log file: (**) SIS(0): Mode "1024x768": 65.0 MHz, 50.0 kHz, 59.7 Hz (II) SIS(0): Modeline "1024x768" 65.00 1024 1084 1220 1300 768 779 785 838 -hsync -vsync (**) SIS(0): Mode "800x600": 40.0 MHz, 38.6 kHz, 56.4 Hz (II) SIS(0): Modeline "800x600" 40.00 800 840 968 1036 600 621 625 684 +hsync +vsync (**) SIS(0): Mode "640x480": 25.2 MHz, 32.3 kHz, 59.7 Hz (II) SIS(0): Modeline "640x480" 25.20 640 660 756 780 480 494 496 541 -hsync -vsync Also xvidtune's requests are accepted: GetModeLine - scrn: 0 clock: 65000 GetModeLine - hdsp: 1024 hbeg: 1104 hend: 1240 httl: 1320 vdsp: 768 vbeg: 795 vend: 801 vttl: 802 flags: 10 ModModeLine - scrn: 0 hdsp: 1024 hbeg: 1104 hend: 1240 httl: 1316 vdsp: 768 vbeg: 795 vend: 801 vttl: 802 flags: 10 ModModeLine - Succeeded ModModeLine - scrn: 0 hdsp: 1024 hbeg: 1104 hend: 1240 httl: 1312 vdsp: 768 vbeg: 795 vend: 801 vttl: 802 flags: 10 ModModeLine - Succeeded cursor_addr value: 0 ModModeLine - scrn: 0 hdsp: 1024 hbeg: 1108 hend: 1244 httl: 1312 vdsp: 768 vbeg: 795 vend: 801 vttl: 802 flags: 10 ModModeLine - Succeeded ModModeLine - scrn: 0 hdsp: 1024 hbeg: 1112 hend: 1248 httl: 1312 vdsp: 768 vbeg: 795 vend: 801 vttl: 802 flags: 10 ModModeLine - Succeeded I have debian/testing, an SiS630 onboard graphic chip and an old (10 years) Targa 1499NL 14" monitor with analog vpos, vsize and hpos (no hsize) knobs that change the settings for all modes. So if I set one mode I mess up the settings for the other modes. http://xfree86.org/current/Status30.html#30 says: "4.2.1: The 630, 300, and 540 are also supported, but this code is new and there are some problems with it in this version." Is this one of the problems? I use 4.1.0.1.
