Has anyone been sucessful running xfree 4.2.x on a toshiba satellite s5105-s501 (which uses nvidia geforce4 440 go)?
I installed RH 8 on my laptop, and I'm dying to see what X looks like in the highest resolution (1400x1050 on this laptop). I installed the nvidia kernel and glx RPMs available on their site. This is the error message I get in my XFree86.0.log: "(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVdriver kernel module!" I saw a post by Aaron Carass saying: "This problem occurs when you don't have the kernel headers/source installed on your computer so when you built the nVidia Module from source it used the wrong headers/source. Try installing the headers/source for your kernel, and recompile the nVidia Module." Does this mean I have to install RH8 SRPMS, then install the 2 rpms provided by nvidia?
