Of course I'd like to have a systemwide installation.

To install vmd-xplor in my home directory I'm doing the following:

tar -zxf vmd-xplor-1.5-Linux_2.4_i686.tar.gz
./configure -xplor /opt/xplor-nih-2.18/bin/xplor -vmd /usr/local/lib/vmd/

No error messages.

After this I execute ./vmd-xplor and only the vmd-console opens. Nothing more.
At this point I'm stuck.
