Thanks for the quick reply, that seems almost correct, except that it still leaves this at the start of the resulting xml:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> Which appears to be invalid for a strict xhtml document (according to the w3c xhtml validator). I tried to get rid of that using the namespace-alias command but that didn't seem to work.
