A number of years ago, because my then-SIL was doing the nursery in Walt
Disney characters, I started an Advent calendar with Mickey Mouse, et al., on
it. It was on either 6 or 8 count ... I prefer 18. Gof sidetracked by
smaller, faster projects. Eventually realized that I never got a thank you
note for gifts, and never saw them in use, even obvious ones like an afghan
bedspread. I spent hours and hours on the cutest little ruffled dress with
teddy bears and even matching teddy bear buttons, asked for a photo of the
kid wearing it, and never got even that; the next year, I asked if they could
send that and other kiddie clothing I'd made/bought to a single mom friend,
and she never got it. Makes me wonder if the stuff got sent to Goodwill as
soon as it arrived! After realizing that this was never going to be used, I
stuck it in the closet. Now they're my EX in-laws and not only do I not see
my niece, but her godmother doesn't see her either! I bring it out from time
to time, consider making it for someone else, and realize that working on
this very very expensive kit is going to raise a lot of heartache with every
stitch, so it gets put away again.

Then there's a kit I am 95% finished with which was intended for my best
friend's now ex-husband. Aside from the fact that I may never need a gift
for him again, the fabric with the kit was much too small, and I will only
have 1-2 rows between the bottom line of stitching and the edge of the
fabric, making it difficult to frame if I do choose to recycle it.

The other thing that may not get done is the picture I've been doing for my
new boyfriend, who as of last night is apparently my ex-boyfriend, being too
hung up on his late wife to handle a relationship with a live woman. He may
eventually come to his senses, so I may keep working on it anyway for a
while. In fact, I may decide to finish it and mail it to him later, as a
reminder that I'm still here once he gets over his psychological problems, or
because the saying is appropriate to his situation.
