I've said Emacs support is not necessary, not that it wouldn't be
useful. :-)
I used to use darcs-mode and pcmpl-darcs but I've found I don't need
them -- I can't find any reason to use Emacs keystrokes and separate
buffers instead of simply invoking the same action in a *shell* buffer.
OTOH an example of a useful (but not necessary) feature which would be
nice to have is displaying darcs diff output with ediff.
