if xfce stuff is buggy, then you should not exchange them to gnome apps... you should file bug @ xfce developers... and help them fix things
just to change the program to another one (usually heavier and gnomish) is not the right answer if you made a survey amongst xubuntu users you would find that they accept a bit of buggines, if the other alternative is gnomish heaviness
