Dear all,
I've noticed that Ubuntu was no longer installing Synaptic by default,
and instead was shipping the shiny Software Center. Is this true of
Xubuntu, too? Does it also phase out Synaptic in latest releases?

Phasing out Synaptic, would be complete insanity,
since Canonical Software center IS insane by default.

First thing I do is installing synaptic to actually do package management and installing.

Software center does not allow even displaying software licenses before install, and that goes against free software rules, that every user must see License of software he is installing, before installation and Software center is deliberately disabling that information to the user... Actually I think this is more for user mailing list question, but for developer one, but yet, had to answer.
