It doesn't appear like there is much of a choice. Even though GiMP isn't
really a good option either, there doesn't seem to be any reason to
change, if the options we have aren't any better.

I have an idea, why dont we keep GiMP as editor and gThumb as viewer,
I said it before, GiMP is pretty solid to run on the go while you use
it live. On the other hand you can include other editors "as
available" to show on-the-installation-screen.

the problem with pinta[1] is that it runs on Mono, if it wherent
for that i would imagine we would not be having this discussion as
its perfect for what we need.

Pinta would be a great option to replace GIMP as a default
editor. It's quick to respond and simple to pick up for basic
editing. The biggest issue I can see is that it isn't being
maintained regularly, the latest release was May of last year.

What about Pinta[1]? It's lightweight, offers basic and
advanced
editing options, and is much more comprehensible than GIMP.

Do we want to keep shipping GIMP?
For some background, the team has discussed
the issue [1] and
gone through various simpler alternatives [2]
for GIMP a few
times* in the past, but no suitable candidate
was found.
Do we think there is a suitable, light and
easy-to-use
alternative for GIMP now? Should we simply
drop GIMP altogether
and not replace it?
Discuss.
