Dear TB, On behalf of the Release Team, I'm writing to (officially) inform you that the Xubuntu Team will be releasing a new official image starting with Ubuntu 23.04, Xubuntu Minimal, in addition to Xubuntu Desktop.
This parallels existing minimal install targets from the Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server images to provide a smaller install footprint without applications that the developers want installed as part of the default experience, but which are not essential. Unlike the Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server, it is delivered as a separate image to additionally support smaller install media (specifically, it is targeted to fit on a classic CD-ROM). Particularly as this is a smaller image, I do not anticipate any impact on existing infrastructure capacity. Merge proposals for setting up this new image are: https://code.launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/ubuntu-cdimage/+git/ubuntu-cdimage/+merge/435316 https://code.launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/debian-cd/+git/debian-cd/+merge/435314 -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
