I'm installing Xubuntu 24.04.3 on a newly built workstation. I got no replies to my previous query. So I'm asking a more specific question. I need to set up a RAID-1 root mirror during the install and what I've discovered so far is that the current ISO now uses the ubuntu-desktop-installer which does not have options for raid creation. Why is this?
The subiquity installer is well documented on the internet and it has all the options needed to create multiple mirrors during install, including the root partition. So, is there an ISO out there that will offer the subiquity installer? If so, please let me know where I can download that. Short of that, I currently have a minimal Xubuntu install onto a partition on one of my SSDs. Is there a procedure for creating a RAID-1 mirror to an identical partition on my second SSD. I know how to create the mirrors, but I need to have the root partition unmounted to do this. I'd have to do this by loading an OS with the proper tools into RAM, but I'm unclear how I create the mirror on the actual SSDs rather than as part of the RAM OS image. I'm having trouble getting clear answers to either problem from web searches, so if anyone has pointers they would be greatly appreciated.
