Are you sure that the home folder is NOT encrypted? To test it:
key in terminal: ls -A
(If file system is encrypted you will see a .encryptfs directory)

My home is encrypted, Ex:
don@don-m2:~$ ls -A /home
db2fenc1  db2fenc2  db2fenc3  db2inst1  db2inst2  don  .ecryptfs
