I always used to have the drivers for my printers and install no problem. It seems the latest version of CUPS has left them out. Perhaps it is because they are now deemed old. I don't know. I have had these for many years and only use a printer for the odd letter or returning purchases and printing out the barcode. I found inkjet printers very expensive on ink and for my uses the dot matrix was fine a ribbon lasting a good while. One used to be able to enter a ppd but that is no longer the case. [I noticed that Debian have retained that facility].
The driver Generic-ESC_P_Dot_Matrixprinter-Epson iirc used to work for both but now one can only get a very poor test page. I presume there are some developers on this list and i was wondering what they do for customers who have dot matrix printers for carbon copy invoices. I am 'out of my depth' on printer technology so i would be grateful for some help. Epson printers are still very much in use. james -- xubuntu-users mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users
