  Thanks for pointing out the X++ project. Languages
that have built-in first-class XML support are clearly
the future. 

  For example, Microsoft has a new language in the
works previously code-named X# and now called C Omega.

  Than, of course, in Java-land there's Groovy that
sports first-class built-in markup support. See
http://groovy.codehaus.org/markup.html for details.

  As an alternative to Groovy you might check out
Scala online @ http://scala.epfl.ch

  I'm sure there are more languages underway. Clearly
the overhyped Java or C# languages are not the end of
history and the answer to everything.
