Wait a second ... : It seems that aperture / xsvc are not required anymore :))) I just rebuilt the fox-gate's server 1.5.3 without xserver/xorg/sparc-nopciprobe.patch having the proto area nfs-mounted by an Ultra10, and by having renamed the mach64_drv.so module (and in ts src the ModuleData object) to match what visgetidentifier() reports (namely m64).
Neither aperture nor a SPARC-built xsvc are present on that box, only and alone libpciaccess, and the Xorg server can find the m64 on-board chip, then it segfaults in initPciBusState(), but it is still great news I would say. So, sorry for my mistake, fortunately we don't need aperture or xsvc in the future, am I correct? %martin
