Thanks, indeed, I installed on one of the machines 114, and the problem has 
gone.
But I have a 113 that I won't touch for a while (on 114 Gnome is b0rked, I 
think I should reset my settings, but I don't like the idea to wipe two years' 
work :)), so the above fix, by Karl, comes handy too.
