gdm in Nevada & Indiana should be defaulting to starting X with the -br
option for a solid black root instead of the grey weave.  (Not sure what
build this went back in.)  We've discussed having options beyond solid
black for splash screen/load screen coordination, but haven't gotten
there yet.
