Source release tarballs have been posted on opensolaris.org for Nevada
builds 84 through 102. While this is the first code drop to be done
in this fashion in a year, changes in the interim have been available
in the Project FOX Mercurial repository on src.opensolaris.org.
Changes will continue to appear there first, as long as they don't
conflict with the merges of the Martux/Natamar and Belenix changes.
While I'd been relying on the FOX gate repository to provide access to
our sources, I've heard from others that they prefer being able to download
tarballs that match what is shipped in specific builds of the Sun binary
releases of SXCE & the OpenSolaris distro. For now, I'll try to continue
to update both the tarball releases and the FOX repository as time permits.
A major reason I'd fallen behind on these was that previously I'd taken
the time to verify each tarball built correctly on SPARC & x86 before
releasing - for this mass release I've only verified that the build 101
tarballs build - if problems are found in other builds, we can update as
needed.
The release notes for the build 102 tarballs are attached - major changes
since the last tarballs were released (the 20071107 release for build 78):
- tarballs now tagged by build number instead of date
- dozens of components upgraded from the Sun-forked X11R6 versions in the
closed source tree to current X.Org/X11R7 versions in the open source
tree (most merged from the FOX gate work)
- default compiler for build 97 and later is Sun Studio 12
- FSWxorg-fonts-* packages used for OpenSolaris 2008.11 release merged in
- Package build success rate from open tree increased from 25/26 of 56 to
51/50 of 65, with more coming soon.
Sources for each build are linked to from the build entry in the changelogs
