Just noticed in the latest 2008.11 release candidate - from the
GNOME Applications menu, select System Tools > Performance
Monitor.

When that comes up, select Preferences from the Edit Menu, and
click the checkbox next to "X Server Memory" in the Information
Fields scrollbox of the Processes tab.

Then close the preferences and go to the Processes tab in the
main window - a new X server memory column should have appeared,
which you can click on to sort by, showing how much memory each
application has reserved in X server resources.

(We're working on getting xrestop into OpenSolaris too, but
thought this was cool for the meantime.)
