I figured the Secure by default had something to do with it. I even 
looked through the SMF settings but I missed that property.

Why wasn't it just disabled in the default Xaccess file, with comments 
on why (not)/how to reenable it? That seems to be the place people 
familiar with DtLogin would look first.

I know I went through the same questions with GDM on OpenSolaris, but 
there I found comments and the 'Enable=False' line right there in the 
file. It was straight forward and easy to just add Enable=true to the 
/etc/X11/gdm/custom.conf.

Hiding this in SMF seems very obscure, out of the way. Not user 
friendly. It might be OK if it was something new, and had never had a 
way to do it in the past. but....
