I have similar effects on a desktop computer, where I get the graphical login 
screen and I can initially move the mouse pointer around, but can't use the 
keyboard and mouse clicking does also not work.
After some time even mouse movements are not possible.
I attached the sdiff's of the Xorg and gdm log files between snv-122 and 
snv-123.
