For now, I can go ahead, so you may as well go ahead and finish the project
setup request. Between the Xorg 1.8 integration and the X package conversion
to IPS, the next few weeks are going to be packed full already for me though,
so don't expect swift release, though once the tree is present I may be able
to start pushing out files a directory at a time or something...
This is really great news!

I don't have any pressing project deadlines right now, so if there's
anything I can do to help get things rolling, please let me know since I
do have some time to devote to this - it's been a week now and I'd
hate for this to quietly go to sleep again.
Thank you for your personal enthusiasm, to make this possible
I'll second that!

I see this as a stopgap for now for those who just need a basic display on old
hardware, and don't mind these limitations - whether someone picks it up and
develops something more is up to people like you and the other community
members.
This possibility is partly what makes this interesting. But if we can get to
perform at least as well as it did on SXCE, I, for one, would be very happy.
If we've lived without RandR and XRender thus far I daresay we can live
without them a bit longer :-).
One of my other motivations in doing this is that it also means that there
will be a lot more people who can look at the Xsun sources to see if there's
bug fixes or enhancements to port to Xorg (like the Sun Shared Memory Transport
I've had way down on the todo list for years).
Now that sounds like a challenge :-)
Thanks again -- Frank
