Hello, since upgrading to solex 151a I've noticed that the taskbar icons of the
window manager screen (for instance the wastebasket) and of any applications
(thunderbird, virtualbox, etc) are largely inactive. Exceptionnally I can get to
Firefoxes search bar if I type<ctrl>F...
If I turn of compositing (compiz) this go back to normal.
I didn't find anything in the release notes, is this something new with the
latest Gnome (or X) or is it a compiz bug/feature?
Naturally these things are repeatable (I've tried two different systems -
running32-bit and a 64-bit kernel).
Perhaps there is a new option to specify in order to get the old behaviour
back, the current behaviour is certainly not intuitive.
That doesn't sound like an intentional change that I've heard of, nor is
it something I've seen on my systems.
A more detailed problem description I received privately:
Both systems are upgraded from b134 dev...
As I mentioned, I needed to login to xterm (instead of gnome) in order
to move .gconf and .gconfd so that somes things cleaned up on the top
right of my screen. this seems ok now since a few days...
for the rest...rather trivial to reproduce...
first (say with compiz NONE)
delete a file such that it goes into the wastebasket
click right on the wastebasket and you get the menu where you can empty
the wastebacket, open, etc.
turn compiz on (system/preferences/appearances select normal instead of
none)
click right on wastebasket is now an noop... no menu.
as I mentioned, other application are affected.. for example, thunderbird.
In the preview window, say I have an attachment. before (and with
compiz off) I could right click the file and save it to a folder
somewhere... with compiz on ... NOOP
same with virtualbox, normally I have my usb devices, shared folders and
cédéroms easily selectable, but with compiz on none of these work
without going through the primary menus....
