Short answer: Unlikely to happen anytime soon, given the reliance on adding DRM/KMS drivers to the kernel for every single video card you want to support. I can't even guess if it would ever work at all for Sun Rays. As for whether it's crap or not, too soon to say - certainly we've not got any reason to worry about migrating quickly, as 100% of the applications we have to run are written for X11, not Wayland.
