You must add the yade/external ppa to the pbuilder sources, otherwise an old version of sphinx is used. This is shown at https://yade-dem.org/wiki/DebianPackages#Multiple_distributions (the line after "add our updated packages for karmic" (change karmic for lucid, or course).
