Hi Bruno, I just need your suggestions to understand if I am doing something wrong.. I am using the Triaxial Test to generate the sample and to use the expansion method for the sample generation. After that I fix the boundaries and I apply the gravity gradually (say 10 steps) and among each step I cycle for a while. If I look at the stresses on the bottom wall, after the compaction phase (that say corresponds to 100 kPa) I see the stresses going down nearly to zero and from there starting to increasing as I increment the value of gravity. I guess why the stresses on the bottom wall decrease instead of increase from the value obtained during the compaction phase. When I start applying the gravity at the top wall see a decresing in terms of stresses (and that is fine) but I see the same also at the bottom.. Is that becuase I am no more confining the sample? (I am just trying to give an explanation but I am not really confident with that..)
Thanks for any kind of explanations or thoughts about that. Chiara
