I am trying to do a video chat with a friend who uses Mac computers. Unfortunately, I'm on Windows XP and that might be causing problems. We've tried every camera-friendly messenger that we can find, but I had great hopes for Yahoo because its camera feature seems very polished.
AIM's camera is infamous for being buggy. Skype's camera support is still Beta. Neither of those two worked without problems for us. (But they have worked temporarily, so I know that my camera and microphone and his camera and microphone are capable of working properly.) He is using 3.0 Beta 1, which should be the latest version for Mac. I'm using 8.1.0.209, with MyYahoo Module(8.0.0.1). That's what my About Yahoo! Messenger window says, though I have no idea what MyYahoo Module is. I can see his video, but I cannot hear him. He cannot see or hear anything from me. We can send IMs nicely, but that's not what I'm looking for. We are both new to this software (and I don't know what he's doing on his end) but I think we are using it correctly. There must be some technical problem preventing us from chatting. What can we do? Should I ask him to switch to a non-Beta version?
