My advice is the same as always: using the git log for determining release 
notes and changelogs for end users is too fragile because for a variety of 
reasons, including this one:  mistakes are too hard to correct.  That's why 
releasedocmaker uses JIRA as its source of authority, despite a vocal minority 
who insisted that the git log would be "more accurate". 

So, in other words, it doesn't matter what's in the git log because only humans 
are looking at it.  Instead, just make sure this (and all others, of course) 
JIRA issues have the correct information.
