Cde Mduduzi, I think you are raising quite valid points, in terms of how
we should approach this onslaught against our movement by the Shikotas.
But I think any revolution requires different tactics in arriving at the
ultimate objective. There are no strictly defined rules or procedures to
be followed when you are engaged in the political battle. The prevailing
conditions at a certain point in time should dictate the tactics to be
employed in the revolution. Yes, we cannot condone public violence, but
we must also avoid becoming too liberal in our approach because we seek
to comply with certain parameters set by our opposition and the
capitalist media houses. I agree with you that the threat that the
shikotas pose on our movement cannot be underestimated, which is why we
should man-mark them and not allow them space to manoeuver. I think the
Shikotas enjoy an unfair advantage of biased media coverage, which, if
not countered, will inevitably give them an upper hand in this battle. I
don't think the shikotas got the coverage on their failed Orange Farm
meeting because comrades demonstrated against their presence. These guys
have dominated the media platform, including the public broadcaster
(SABC) and they are "fortunate" to have all their events covered, I mean
some journalists are even deployed to cover their coffee drinking
sessions.

Is there anything wrong with ANC members peacefully demonstrating
against the formation of shikota in their communities. I think the law
permits that, as people have got freedom of expression, as enshrined in
the Constitution of the Republic. These kind of demonstrations will in
fact help to mobilize for the movement even in those platforms organized
by the reactionaries. Let us not be too liberal in our approach to these
issues, but rather remain radical in a disciplined fashion.

As for Cde TM, unfortunately I agree with those who are skeptical about
it. I don't believe that his lieutenants are acting without his
knowledge or consent. But anyway, I think it suits us well to believe
that TM is not part of these shenanigans, because his direct
participation would cause even more confusion amongst the electorate. If
indeed TM is honest and sincere about him not being involved with the
shikotas, then I think he should, as the "loyal" member of the ANC,
actively participate in our campaigning machinery.

Subject: [YCLSA Discussion] Re: ANC FAILS NO ONE

I have a feeling that the language used by comrades might provoke
violence. It is the language of people who are in panic button. This
panic button is informed by the negative impact Shikota has made to the
country. I wrote earlier that this shikota is dangerous and comrades
should accept the danger so that we can device means of alleviating it
but denials continued. The tone is currently harsh and might make
comrades to do stupid things like fighting or killing each other.

The impatioence of some comrades made them to react to shikota meetings
in a way that popularised shikota. If ANC members were not singing
outside shikota meetings people would have not known the existence of
shikota. I appeal to comrades to start door to door in their areas
explaining the importance to vote and vote ANC. The shikota should not
be popularized by us. we need not to mention them in our campaigns. we
need not to speak about them unlesss a question is posed by those we are
visiting.

Cde TM has distanced himself from the Shikota initiative but I heard one
comrade this morning saying that they cannot be fooled by TM. I want to
appeal to comrades to leave TM alone, he has worked so much for the
country, the continent and the world. He might be tired by now so let us
all give him the rest he deserves. He did what we wanted him to do -
declare his standing. It shall not be interpreted or analyzed otherwise.
Please macabane.
