Comrades,

Having read what is purported to be Thabo Mbeki's letter the following would
be my observations:

1. Important issues are raised as issues that face the movement and
I'm in agreement with many of the issues except for the notion of reducing
poverty instead of eradication of poverty albeit in gradual steps over a
period of time without sounding overzealous.

2. The issue of firing of comrades who do not agree with those who are
in the leadership at a particular time smacks of hypocrisy and fork tongue;
this is so because a number of things would pointed out and the following
are factual issues during his leadership as they demonstrate what he
apparently denounces.

a. Women abuse as evidenced by Thabo's bashing and clearly heating
Winnie Mandela at Orlando stadium

b. Ignoring of Ace Magashule for government leadership in the Free
State

c. Recalling Mathew Phosa as Premier of Mpumalanga

d. Appointing Ndaweni Mahlngu as premier only to embarrass the ANC

e. Using state institutions for investigating Phosa, Ramaphosa and
Sexwale for an alleged coup

f. Recalling MECs Kpndlo, Masualle, Sizani in the Eastern Cape and
others in other provinces

g. Introduction of GEAR which Sam Shilowa fought against fiercely
until he had a taste of money and state power

h. Alienation of the alliance partners and labelling them as ultra-left
which Madisha fought against fiercely before he got dreams to taste what
Shilowa has.

i. Appointment of lame duck premier Nosimo Balindlela in sheer
disregard of all those that were deserving and capable

j. Denying connection between HIV and AIDS and there-by delaying roll
out of ARVs and consequently leading to many deaths. Unfortunately this lead
to Lekota presiding over a meeting that annulated Honourable Mandela for
his different views of the matter

k. Firing Jacob Zuma based on a trial that was not Zuma's nor was he a
witness

l. Protecting Silebi from prosecution including instructing the foot
soldiers to withdraw a warrant of arrest

m. Disbanding of Provincial structures in the Eastern cape, Gauteng, and
others some under dubious circumstances

3. This letter is nothing but a bitter Mbeki who would have liked to
stay on power to advance the same Compradore Bourgeoisie he is crying foul
about

4. Its all important to say the issues that he raises did not arise
after Polokwane but they were there long before and probably started during
his presidency of the ANC that started in 1997; to pretend now as if these
are issues that arise now is highest level of dishonesty

5. Indeed history will judge his action

6. The left leaning talk all of a sudden is highest level of
opportunism that must be shunned and condemned

In the final analysis this should have been expected and Thabo has betrayed
the organization that he has served for more that the half of his life.

Simphiwe Thobela
