Comrades find the letter by Justice Malala I think it is very

interesting to note that some from the Media could come out to defend

our leadership and reveal some of the things we did not know

Cdes I think i fully agree with the Kaizer, there are element of

discrediting the movement by the former President. I still maintain that

there was no need for the loyal cadre of the ANC who have served the

organisation for more than 52yrs to write that thing. i honestly do not

think that it was in the interest of the organisation.

In my view cadres this letter was merely manufactured to actually

discredit comrade JZ and the movement in general while positioning this

counter-revolutionary movement. The ANC leaders have also interacted

with those leaders that are mentioned there, its not him alone who

inteacted with this cadres.

TM is on record as saying that he is available to be deployed by the ANC

and now, he sing a different tune, now our movement must consult him

before deploying him, it is indeed strange today that we must request

him to advance the trasformational agenda of the ANC.

I still personal hold TM is high regard because of the role that he

played in our struggle and our transformation of our country but i

honestly do not think at this stage he is honestly advancing the unity

of our organisation. According to my knowledge his still sits in the

highest decision making body of the ANC and therefore he has all the

opportunity to raise this issue rather than writing a letter which also

linked to the media and the other party.

i believe that the sooner some of this spook leave, the better. the ANC

LIVES AND LEADS

AN OPEN RESPONSE TO THE LETTER FROM THE FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE

COUNTRY AND THE ANC, Thabo Mbeki.

By: Kaizer Mohau

It has come not as a shock to us that a letter written to the

President of the African National Congress (ANC) by the former

President of both the ANC and the Republic, Thabo Mbeki made it to the

media and the public in a manner that is completely unsatisfactory to

some of us.

According to the author the letter was addressed to the President of

the organisation thus the ANC correctly refused to publicise it. The

ANC certainly took this decision on the basis that it was not meant or

it was led to believe that its contents were not meant for public

consumption - nevertheless, the letter is today published in an

unedited version to some newspapers.

The question that I think needs to be posed is how did this letter

reach news desks of some journalists?

Firstly, the media reported immediately after Cde Gwede Mantashe

mentioned the letter when was addressing a meeting in Pretoria.

According to the media, Cde Gwede misled the public in terms of this

letter by selectively quoting some passages of the letter.

Terror Lekota, in an obviously opportunistic manner addressed the

media in which he equally mentioned the issue of the misleading of the

public by the ANC - subsequent to that, we were informed that Thabo

Mbeki the author of the letter forwarded the same letter to Terror

Lekota, who is no longer a leader of the ANC - in fact he has become

the enemy of the ANC since the recalling of the Author of the letter.

Now since then it has become very clear that Lekota is no longer

interested in the ANC but its demise and he is out rightly working

towards this objective.

The letter itself contains very poisonous statements aimed in my own

view to deepen the current political and organisational instability

the likes of Lekota want to cause within the ANC.

For me the letter is completely not helping in ensuring the unity and

cohesion of the movement despite the pretentious mentioning of this

unity and cohesion by the author.

The author in this letter sends a goodbye message masquerading as

concern over the state of the ANC currently. In a subtle manner the

author raises the very issues that Lekota and his best men and women

have been making noise about.

Thabo Mbeki, starts by raising as a concern the statements made by the

President of the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) Cde

Julius Malema and the ANC President Jacob Zuma to the fact that he is

expected to campaign and do election work for the ANC as a cadre of

this organisation.

During his media address after he was recalled as a President of the

Republic, Thabo Mbeki informed the nation that he remains a loyal and

committed cadre of the ANC - perhaps it is on this basis that both the

President of the ANC and of the Youth had in mind when indicating that

Thabo Mbeki will be expected as a cadre of the organisation like all

other cadres to participate in the ANC election work.

To argue that he should have been consulted before a public

pronouncement is made - clearly indicates how other Comrades think

that they are better than others.

Leaders of the ANC did not speak only about Thabo Mbeki - in fact the

President of the ANC began by saying that all cadres should avail

themselves for election work, the journalist asked specifically about

Thabo Mbeki, a question the President of the ANC Cde Jacob Zuma

answered that as a cadre of the ANC Thabo Mbeki is to do election work

for his organisation.

It will not be right if individual members of the ANC will expect that

they should be sent personal request to do organisational work.

Whether the timing of this public announcement came during Lakota's

crusade against the ANC is immaterial, Lekota attacks the ANC and ANC

cadres must not only distance themselves from Lekota but equally they

should repudiate him for his misconduct.

The "personality cult" phenomenon

Thabo Mbeki in a manner typical of an angry individual dictator -

makes the point that some Comrades in the movement attaches this

phenomenon to him - that he has developed a scenario where in which he

is worshiped as an individual thus the mentioning of the personality

cult question.

But Thabo Mbeki sides steppes the fact that some ministers and deputy

ministers resigned from government siding his recalling as a reason

for their resignation. Meaning that without the personality of Thabo

Mbeki - the ANC can go to the nearest dustbin of history.

Surely, if sincere enough Thabo Mbeki must start by rejecting these

political criminals - and their factional tendencies. Because his

failure to distance himself from them - reality is bound to let us

conclude that indeed this phenomenon of personality cult is what has

characterised the ANC leadership under his Presidency.

Thabo Mbeki must not try to fool us - because we know that people who

did not agree with him including our Alliance partners were always

insulted publicly others removed from their positions of

responsibility in government - is this not to surround yourself with

people who agrees with you always and uncritically? - If the answer is

yes, then what do you call this? Because this Cde Thabo is the

phenomenon of "personality cult".

Some of us find it very interesting your ability to quote leaders and

mention them by names - however, this is very scary.

Indeed the leaders you mention in your letter would not have approved

the presence of foreign tendencies your presidency has brought inside

our movement.

Perhaps, you only lie about them because they are no more and

therefore they will not answer for themselves and make their own

determination on the matter- which I think would have not been

different from the determination we have made - that you are a menace

or rather your leadership is a menace to the consolidation and

advancement of the National Democratic Revolution.

The principled decision taken by the ANC as far as you are concern

would have received large support from those leaders - I wonder why is

it that you became so selective in mentioning Comrades - your

deliberate deleting of Chris Hani's name in your list of cadres you

worked with raises serious concern, especially considering that Cde

Chris disagreed with you on a number of issues - including the fact

that your view of the ANC has always been of a Europeanised African

Dictator in making.

The Letter

One is curious to know why did you sent the letter addressed to the

President of the African National Congress to Terror Lekota, conscious

of the fact that Lekota and his Co. are about to establish a political

Party opposed to the ANC which you claim to be loyal and committed to?

There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever, that indeed you leaked the

letter to Lekota because you thought it as a correct strategy to

undermine the ANC while profiling the convention of political

criminals at the same time.

It was correct for the ANC to divulge aspects of the letter which are

aimed at making sure that you are not exposed too much and your

commitment and loyalty to the ANC which you served for so many decades

is intact and not compromised.

To send the letter to Lekota is very suspicious - because one would

love to know as to on what capacity Lekota deserved to receive the

copy of that letter.

- Why if not satisfied with how the letter is handled, didn't you

contact the ANC and raise this matter with the leadership

- Why do you want to refuse to participate in the ANC Election work

- Why do you compare the ANC to a non existent Party

- How come you make the inference and insinuation that the ANC is a

faction?

For history will never be kind to the dishonest and counter

Revolutionaries - FAREWELL THABO MBEKI!
