I would like to agree with Alex on this one, even if we discount the possibility of airtime sponsorships to phone in, the majority of our people would not afford the airtime for sending sms for a TV poll, and mind you over 60% of our population is based in the rural areas where radio is the dominant media than TV. I would like to believe that the vote was from those who are better off and those in urban areas. The other thing to note is that the result did not indicate how many people responded to arrive at that particular results. For all we know only 500 sms could have been received and possibly 90% of them came from one area (i.e. Western Cape) and now we would be expected to believe that the poll reflects the opinion of the entire country, really comrades, we must apply our minds correctly here!

Is it the constituency that operates from a please call me? Or is it a pool of individuals who have been bought lots of airtime for the purpose of a media propaganda to advance Shikota? The real elections results will, as one of the important indicators, tell. Who has got access to the electronic and technological gadgets? We all know. One can fund polls don't forget to sway the public towards a certain opinion. It stays and is a fact that the political economy of our media is not compatible with reality on the ground, even if YCL cannot have enough youth on the ground to mobilise to attain a certain dispensation but it surely has the grounding within a sizeable number of the young people. It's target is the young people of South Africa not suburban, monied, capitalist wannabes who want to be millionaires of tommorrows at the expense of those they will be using in next year's elections. Let us organise. LET US ALSO SERIOUSLY MOBILISE FOR CURRICULUM TRANSFORMATION TO ENSURE THAT ALL THESE IDEOLOGIES ARE EQUALLY CATERED FOR IN OUR CURRICULUM IN A REVOLUTIONARY WAY THAT SEEKS TO ADD IN OUR ENDEAVOURS AS ESPOUSED BY THE MAJORITY OF THIS COUNTRY. To me the polls are reflective of a particular reality which in my view you should confront as Young Communists. As young Communists you need to be where the young people are, educate them about the imporatnce of Socialism and make sure that they understand and relate with it. It's not enough to say eTV is vehicle for capaitalists, the fact of the matter is that we live in a capitalist society. My advice to you my dear comrade is simple:ORGANISE, ORGANISE AND ORGANISE!!!!!!!!!!!!
